Reading the weather for carp
Pressure
Many anglers find carp feed more confidently as pressure falls ahead of a front, and go quieter as high pressure builds. The trend over a day or two matters more than the number.
Wind
A mild south-westerly pushes warm surface water and food towards one bank, and carp often follow it. A cold north or east wind tends to do the opposite.
Temperature
Carp are cold-blooded: steady or rising temperatures switch them on, and sudden drops slow them down. See the carp calendar and the winter guide.
